Home Invasion Victims Speak About Possible Serial Killer

As a martial arts instructor, Lloyd Irvin says he was able to protect his family as two masked gunman invaded his home in middle of the night

Now the family has learned one of those suspects is the man the Prince George's County Police Chief has labeled, a possible serial killer.

"I woke up and there were two gunmen over the top of me," Irvin says. "I was sleeping on this couch right here."

It was October 2008, and Irvin remembers every detail.

"They broke this window, they busted, and somebody crawled through this window here.

He says he followed their instructions, and went to the second floor to wake his family and houseguests.

"Very politely asked me if I was dressed, was I decent was the terminology that I used," says his wife, Vicki. "Then told me to get down on the floor, which I did."

Irvin says soon, the two men split up and that's when he made his move.

"The opportunity flashed, I went for it," Irvin says. "I was able to make the cartridge come out, I was able to take the gun from the guy. And once I got the gun from him, he ran out."

The family recently learned one of the two men may be a possible serial killer.

"My heart goes out to the families that were actually killed, and I'm just so thankful that-- I mean it could have been us. Thank God Lloyd had the skills to disarm this person," says Vicki.

Since the crime, they've installed a security system, and even got a guard dog.

Charges in this case were "nolle prossed" earlier this year. That means the prosecutor effectively dropped the charges. Court records indicate prosecutors "nolle prossed" many other charges from other cases against this person of interest.

All I know is if some guys broke in my house and I got the gun away or had a chance to get to one of my guns I'm shoting both of them period, there would be no need to call the cops call the meat wagon. If there died theres no chance of them ever doing that again or coming back after they get out of jail...

See if I got this right- So they run out of his house get caught are let go on "nolle prossed" whatever that is and then they kill some people when they should have been in jail.If it was my family that got murdered I would be asking some questions. Thank God Lloyd and his family are okay. Who knows what might have happened if he never disarmed the guy.
