After a back injury recently forced Thiago Silva out of an expected light heavyweight meeting with Tim Boetsch, UFC newcomer Todd Brown has seized the opportunity and stepped up to the plate to face Boetsch in his absence.

The pair will square off during UFC 117 on August 7 from the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.

Brown holds a professional record of 11-1 and most recently scored a first round TKO over Rodney Sleepers in November of 2009, while Boetsch, a 4X UFC vet, returns to the promotion following three consecutive wins since being released with an Octagon record of 2-2 in March of 2009.

Would have rather seen Davis/Boetsch and Brown/Wallace just because Davis/Boetsch has the best potential of any possible combination. Glad they were able to find a replacement for Boetsch though.

I'd like to see Tim Boetsch come back strong with a win, great potential.
