Garijo beats Pulver in a sad loss for a legend

Jens Pulver's losing streak continues.

Pulver, the MMA fan favorite and former UFC lightweight champion who was dumped by World Extreme Cagefighting this year after losing his fifth consecutive fight, was back in the ring on Saturday night at the War on the Mainland show in Irvine, California, where the little-known Diego Garijo needed only one minute and eight seconds to force him to tap out to a guillotine choke.

Both fighters came out swinging, and 40 seconds into the first round Garijo floored Pulver with a hard left hand. Once he knocked Pulver down, Garijo pounced, sunk in the choke, and got Pulver to tap. It was a sad ending to the fight for Pulver fans -- and it may be a sad ending to Pulver's career.

When Jens get dropped and/or guillotined the same way in every fight like clockwork it may be time to move beyond fantasizing about him "training with BJ" for "one more run with the belt" or whatever. He's conditioned to get knocked out and stunned more easily than he was before. Time to hang it up, seriously

hes the brett favre of mma. pulver will never die.really i just think he needs to get in a decent camp. take 6 months with bj and get back to basics. i feel like he prolly thinks that he doesnt need to change his style to compete with the younger guys because its worked for him for so long. just like chuck said its hard to change a style that your known for and that people come to see.

Jens is a class act...definitely my top 3 favorite fighters in the world. Very very good for the sport, awesome and genuine to his fans.I seen him at a show in minneapolis years ago...up 3-4 rows and yelled...go Lil Evil...and he stopped and took the time to reach up and shake my hand. The guy has so much love for the sport I just don't understand any kind of negative vibes towards him.Go Lil Evil!

If Jens want to fight, then he should fight. If he likes it, and feels that his body is still up for it, then he will quit when he feels like it. If he fights to pay the bills, he should get a normal job instead, or only fight against submission guys and not get punched in the head so much.In the end he is a great guy, and I only wish him the best. And I will still pay to see him fight.
