Woodley vs. Galvao added to October Strikeforce

Tyron Woodley and Andre Galvao have been slated to face off in a featured welterweight bout at Strikeforce “Diaz vs. Noons 2” on Oct. 9 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

Galvao announced the matchup, whose winner will buoy into the promotion’s 170-pound title picture, on his Twitter account on Monday. Strikeforce officials said an official announcement is forthcoming.

The undefeated Woodley, who hasn’t seen action since May when he took a split decision over Team Quest’s Nathan Coy at Strikeforce Challengers 8, was a two-time collegiate All-American wrestler at the University of Missouri.

A three-time Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships medalist, Galvao, who turns 28 next week, earned a hard-fought third-round technical knockout against Jorge Patino at a Strikeforce event in Houston in late August.

Galvao's cardio is fine. If it sucked, he wouldn't have been able to survive against Patino. He gets too tense in his striking and this is what gets him tired in his fights. His technique is actually pretty good if he would trust in it.Galvao is way more tested than Woodley. The level of competition is not even close. Galvao has fighters like Alessio, Stewart, Patino and High on his resume. Woodley has nobody like that on his resume.

Galvao doesn't have the cardio I feel to beat woodley. Woodley by TKO in the 3rd.Sucks 2 of their best prospects have to fight so soon.

Very intriguing match-up. I would have thought they would try and build both these guys up, but I guess they're challenging both of them right now.I'm going with Galvao for this one.
