This whole thread makes me feel like I'm surrounded by degenerate know-it-alls from Bullshido.

This is funny too as he apparently makes his class call him "Mr. Gibson." Even his junior coaches refer to him as that.

This as usual is turning into some what of a semantic battle but Gibson did beat both Gono and Suda, 2 of Shooto's top guys back then and Superbrawl was a Shooto affiliate iirc.He fought formally in Shooto twice, going 1-1 with Suda. He was never the Shooto camp iirc, though Shooto did have their own rankings and he could have been #1 contender but I am not sure.I have no doubt he overstates his accomplishments but he was legit back then. Just not the man or anything.

I was referring to the use of champion regarding superfights, yes there were only two champions, but they never "fought for the title" or to defend it, other than it meaning they got a belt, for that fight, on that night. The other superfights were all draws if I remember correctly.

Well I guess I am more forgiving of the guy using the word champion when I knew he meant he won one fight in one event then.

You're about three quarters full of bullshit there. Back then in the SEG days, there was a title called Superfight belt. It was a single fight championship separate from the tournament. The winner is called Superfight Champion. There was only two Superfight champions. Dan Severn and Ken Shamrock. Lance Gibson was never one of them.UFC never called anyone who didn't hold a championship belt a champion.
