Tim Kennedy vs 'Mayhem' Miller rubber match at Strikeforce on March 5

by Jesse Holland | source: mmamania.com

Jason Miller finally found a homie that isn't scared.

After campaigning for a grudge match against hated rival Nick Diaz, "Mayhem" instead looks to be close to a rubber match against fellow Strikeforce middleweight contender Tim Kennedy when the promotion makes its March 5 debut in Columbus, Ohio.

Sources close to one of the fight camps alerted MMAmania.com to the pending match-up earlier today.

The mouthy middleweight mischief-maker split a pair of bouts against Kennedy when they threw hands at Extreme Challenge 50 back in 2003 (L) and HDNet Fights "Reckless Abandon" nearly four years later (W).

A win in Columbus almost certainly puts him in line for yet another rubber match, this time against Ronaldo Souza, who twice battled Miller under the DREAM banner to inconclusive results.

"A win in Columbus almost certainly puts him in line for yet another rubber match, this time against Ronaldo Souza, who twice battled Miller under the DREAM banner to inconclusive results. After "Jacare" took a unanimous decision win from the Bully Beatdown host, their May 2009 rematch ended in a No Contest (NC) due to a cut received from an illegal upkick."Maybe the author should learn what a rubber match is. (ie. the third bout after each fighter has won one of the previous fights) Just because it would be the third meeting between the fighters doesn't mean its a rubber match. Jacare dominated the first fight with Miller, then Miller threw an illegal soccer kick to a downed opponent to get a NC which should have been a DQ anyways. (Not an upkick like Holland mentioned)I'd be interested in seeing Miller-Kennedy again though.

This match is bullshit. Mayhem already beat Time. and as far as "rubber" match the first fight was only a decision and Tim was gifted a decision. Mayhem is a high caliber fighter than that.

If anyone deserves it, Tim does, he seems like a great guy, I would like to see him win, but Mayhem is very tricky.

Tim's gonna punk him out. Mayhem bothers me, he's good and all, but i think Tim will have his way this fight.

Tim is a beast, but I see mayhem squeaking this one out.
