Beltran: I won the fight against Mitrione

source: bjpenn.com

I am very happy and very proud with my performance against such a highly touted opponent as Pat Barry. On paper I had no business striking with Pat Barry, or many would think even being in the same cage as Pat Barry.

I went out there I proved myself and I feel honestly after watching the fight multiple times on replay, with the sound off, that I won that fight. I felt that in the middle of the fight I was winning and I felt that after the fight, even though I took a hard beating after the eye gauge for that last minute and thirty, I still feel like I won the fight.

But that’s what happens in MMA when you let the fight go to the judges, people will get screwed sometimes.

t was not a kickboxing match, it was a cage fight, a cage fight… and please let me say it again, IT WAS NOT A KICKBOXING MATCH, IT WAS A CAGE FIGHT and I was not allowed to fight and use the cage.

Which the funny thing to me is I wonder if they are going to do the same thing to Randy Couture when he fights Machida? And I think we all know the answer to that… No they are not.

What a bunch of shit. Pat won that fight hands down. I don't see how anyone could give it to Beltran.

Beltrán reminds me Of that fighter Eddie Sánchez, dude was pretty good But didn't have the tools to be great. He got cut from the UFC a few years ago.

damn, sour grapes.joeys been whining about shit for like 3 days. "i couldnt use the cage"you are allowed to use the cage if you are working joey.you arent allowed to hold a guy there, jam ur face in his face, and stomp on his feet for 5 rounds. thats called stalling. nobody likes when people stall on the ground and dont work to finish, and the same goes for when you stuff a guiy against the cage and dont work for anything but body shots and foot stomps. what are u gunna do joey stand there and stomp on pats foot until he taps out? get the fuck outta here

I thought the fight was really close. The first two rounds were close. but I think 29-28 Barry was correct. but I could have saw it a draw and would not have argued 29-28 Beltran. The third round could have easily been 10-8. Beltran was still fighting but Barry landed significant strikes so many times in the round that Beltran could barely walk and if your opponent can hardly walk well you that is pretty effective striking.

I thought he won, too, but when one guy literally can't stand at the end of the fight; it's not hard to see why the judges would score the fight for the other guy. Not saying it's right, I'm just saying that it is what it is.
