Chants of “Diaz! Diaz! Diaz!” rang out across the arena, and Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz earned every one of them.
Diaz (Pictured, file photo) posted his career-best 10th consecutive victory, as he stopped world-ranked challenger Paul Daley on first-round strikes in their epic Strikeforce “Diaz vs. Daley” headliner on Saturday at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego. Buried under the cumulative toll of Diaz’s punches to the head and body, Daley succumbed to the onslaught 4:57 into round one.
After the stoppage the guy can lie there for a week if he wants. It doesn't effect anything. Would he have been faster getting up if it was the bell and not the contest calling? Who knows. But in defeat there was no rush for him to get back up. So don't use that as evidence he COULDN'T get up.
Was a BS stoppage. Daley was actively moving his head, arms and legs in defending himself. Diaz wasn't even catching him. And on top of that there were 6 secs left. Worst stoppage I have ever seen.
I get what you guys are saying, but Daley actually catches Diaz with that monster blind right. It look like it stuns Diaz...Then he pushes Diaz off, and collapses. Just a really crazy series...Max
