If Mayhem came that close to choking out Shields I would be scared of what BJ would do to him. If BJ focuses on his ground game and tightening up his BJJ he will sub him(if it even goes to the ground). BJ took Fitch's back fairly easily(not an easy thing to do) but because he was so rusty didn't complete it, he won't make that mistake again.

lol that's what all the sheilds fans said about GSP.BJ is a much better striker than dan. if BJ rocks sheilds, he WILL finish him and with the quickness.

Finally i can quote someone in agreement. Your spot on bro. I thought Fitch was a horrible match up for BJ and BJ impressed the shit out of me in the fight. He out wrestled fitch for the 1st two rounds and IMO won the fight 2 rounds to 1. Shields is a great match up for BJ. BJ doesnt have to worry about Shields stand up. He also has much better boxing and faster hands. And he has the jaw and the balls to take chances and eat a shot if he has to. Shields does not take a good punch. He does not respond well once hit and BJ will put fist to face all night. Ok so Shields needs to take him down to win the fight. BJ will see Shields single leg shot a mile away and bounce around the ring on one leg while cracking Shields with uppercuts over and over. And even if Shields does manage to get him down. Then what??? BJ's Jits is better. I dont care how many people Shields submitted. He does that because thats all he has. BJ has a well rounded game. He does it all. The only way for Shields to win this fight is to lay on BJ and take him to a decision. I think its possible he can get him down, but not ever round and not enough times to grind out a decision. I see BJ landing a hard right and then rather then doing a GSP and backing up so you dont get countered he follows up until the ref pulls him off. Only i see it in the first round ala Penn-Hughes 3.  Flat footed slow moving guys with little head movement are all kinds of wrong for a match up with BJ.

I'll tell you one thing. Anybody who drops 60 bucks on a BJ Penn card isnt going to be complaining about lack of action or that he doesnt try to finish fights.

What he did to Henderson? Do you really think that Jake is going to run thru the ground positions on BJ like he did Hendo? Henderson looked so basic on his back it was ugly. Those guys while may be a bad match up, doesnt make Shields a bad match up for BJ. Shields only weapen is his Jiu-Jitsu. Thats the only thing he can threaten with. Out of all those wrestlers you mentioned, Shields is probably the slowest and probably the least athletic. His wrestling is not only over rated, but all he really shoots are single legs, BJ hops around all day with that going on. Those guys have enough BJJ not to get subbed, but thats all they're trying to do, BS around and not get subbed. If Shields gets on top of BJ, we'll at least get treated to good ground battle. But in reality he probably cant even keep BJ down once he gets him there, and even being heavier hes not going to beat BJ in the BJJ department. And the thing is, is BJ will do what GSP should have done to him (on the feet). Jake offers no threat on the feet, so your going to see BJ in the pocket, shoulder relaxed, teeing off on Jakes face. Which is what GSP should have done, but for some reason didnt. I dont even think Jake has that much better wrestling than BJ and I certainly think its possible that BJ rocks him on the feet and gets a easy takedown on him. We're going to see BJ just straight assert dominance in this fight. On the feet, and getting top position on the ground and welcoming Jake to the big leagues proper.
