Cerrone beats Rocha by Unanimous Decision

source: mmamania.com

Donald Cerrone vs. Vagner Rocha was a classic striker vs. grappler match-up.

The former did his thing while the latter struggled just to stand. Of course, that's because young Donald was plastering Rocha with leg kicks, steadily chopping him down throughout the fight.

It should be noted that Rocha was a late replacement for Mac Danzig, who bowed out of this fight due to a chest injury.

That's certainly no excuse, but it does help explain a decidedly uninspired performance.

I love Cerrone, and he clearly outclassed Rocha. But it pissed me off to see him not committing all the way. WHY? There were a dozen times he could have finished the fight. All he had to do was follow up his strikes on the ground. Rocha was hurt, Cerrone could have finished him before he could attempt a submission. He even said himself, "I fought not to lose", and I am very disappointed.

Cerrone's good. I don't think he fights safe per se, I think he just doesn't go all out ever. Relaxed and happy guy

Not a fan of that fight. He clearly outclassed Rocha but didn't want to commit

Well, Cerrone fighting "not to lose" is much more exciting than most fighters fighting to win.One of the most exciting lightweights in a stacked division.

you can't blame greg, he wanted cerrone to finish rocha after round 1 because it was obvious rocha couldn't strike.
