Gracie takes offense at Herman remarks that BJJ doesn't work
In the UFC 131 Fight of the Night, Dave 'Pee Wee' Herman faced John Olav Einemo. Einemo is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, won the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship in 2003, and is the only man to defeat multiple-time BJJ champion Roger Gracie in the Abu Dhabi Combat Club tournament. Herman did not wrestle in high school, but walked onto the Div I Indiana University wrestling team. Einemo predicted before the fight that Herman would be submitted in the first or second round. For his part, Herman said at the pre fight conference, perhaps light heartedly, that thought BJJ was didn't work in MMA. When he repeated the remarks at the post fight press conference, BJJ great Renzo Gracie responded via Twitter. Herman is a former NCAA collegiate wrestler at , where despite the fact he never wrestled for even one full season in high school was able to make the school's NCAA Division I wrestling team as a walk on.
