Dennis Siver wins controversial decision over Matt Wiman

In a unanimous decision that left the fans in Las Vegas booing, Dennis Siver defeated Matt Wiman at UFC 132 on Saturday night.

All three judges scored the bout 29-28 for Siver, apparently deciding that he had won the first and third rounds. In the second round Wiman turned Siver's forehead into a bloody mess with a series of elbows from inside Siver's guard, but drawing blood wasn't enough to win the fight for Wiman.

I am still pleased that Siver won the decision.

It was a close fight, but I agree with the decision. Wiman clearly won the 2nd round, that is apparent to everyone. But he didn't do anything to win the 1st and 3rd rounds. He spent most of the fist round trying to get a takedown that finally came in the last minute, and Siver got the better part of the striking game in the 1st and 3rd. Getting a takedown in the last minute of a round should not negate all the action that happened prior to, and prior to that takedown, Siver was winning the 1st round handily.

wiman lost me in that fight. i was neutral, but the second he took siver down in the 2nd and drove his forehead into sivers cheek, i told my brother watch, he's gunna stay in his guard and cut him with elbows and hope to win by cuts.sure enough, he wings his first elbow and slices a cut open. some guys, like prime tito, current bones jones, they drive their elbow/forearm right into your face and hope to kill u. but some guys pull the tactics wiman was pulling, they will slice the tip of their elbow over your face and hope to cut u up. it fuckin hurts of course, but it wont knock anybody out, and it doesnt tell u who the better fighter is.its bullshit to try and win that way. need more anthony njokuani's, carlos condits and urijah fabers, and alot less matt wimans IMO.

Wiman was using shady tactics like grinding his chin and head into the cuts of siver. I was disappointed.

Wow, maybe if it was a Kickboxing fight I could see siver winning. That's the only way. Wiman beat the shit out of him and cut his face multiple times. Didn't seem to b any lnp in that fight.

Wiman was penalized for fighting the standard accepted way to fight. Fundamentally I'm okay with it but he shouldn't have been chosen as a scapegoat.
