Despite back-to-back losses and some initial uncertainty, veteran middleweight Jorge Rivera isn't retiring.

The fighter's representatives at Alchemist Management today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) the 39-year-old plans to continue competing inside the octagon.

This past weekend, Rivera suffered a split-decision defeat to Constantinos Philippou on the UFC 133 main card.

I think hes more than just a gatekeeper, if the possible win against Bisping had'nt been stolen from him he could have been coaching tUf rightnow against Mayhem Miller, and if he beat Miller he could be on for a title shot early next year ..its just bad luck and circumstance that this did not happen, which surely makes him more than a mere gatekeeper.

Back on topic. I hope Jorge sticks around for awhile. I think he makes for a decent gatekeeper and is usually fun to watch. He isnt getting abused, and still hits hard.

In the initial spirit of this post, I am glad that Jorge is still going to fight. He is a very nice, humble person who has overcome a lot of adversity and deserves to follow his dream and continue to find success.

Umm, they are pretty far apart with the Caribbean sea in between them and before the Spanish cam they were not what we would call countries today at all, I think it was the Mayans or the Incas in Mexico and the Carib and later the Taino on Puerto Rico. The civilizations in meso-America and on the Caribbean islands were completely different I believe. The Spanish are what made them similar, although there are many more descendents of African slaves on Puerto Rico than in Mexico. In boxing there were many Mexico/PR rivalries to be the top dog in the boxing world.

Was Puerto Rico part of Mexico orginally when the Spanish invaded it and it seperated or was there like war between them and they decided to become two different countries like India and Pakistan cause one was muslim and one was Hindu.
