Alistair Overeem's trainer Martijn de Jong fills in the details on Overeem’s UFC contract on TapouT radio.
“We’re very excited, especially because we had a major setback when (Overeem) was pulled out of the tournament. We’re very happy that Golden Glory management and ZUFFA came to an agreement, and squashed everything. We’re happy to sign with the UFC because we want to fight only the best in the world, and we believe they are all in the UFC. We’re very happy.”
“I’m not sure if I can give any detailed information about the contract at this time, but it has been signed for a multiple fight deal with the UFC, so we will be seeing him fighting a couple times within a year.”
“I hope we will be able to get him on (the UFC Japan) card, because Alistair and the whole Team Golden Glory views Japan as a second home town, a second home country. We have been there so many times, and we love the people and the people love Alistair. The people love Golden Glory and that’s why we hope we can be on this card, as well.”
“Right now (overeem) is in America, enjoying a little holiday over there, and after that, he will go to Japan and do a little promotion that was already scheduled. After that, he will come back to Holland and we will start training camp.”
