Coenen: There's a double standard in MMA

In her first video blog for Full Contact Fighter, former Strikeforce Women’s 135 Pound Champion Marloes Coenen opens up about what she feels is a double standard in the sport of MMA and talks about why she didn’t wait for Zuffa, the parent company of UFC and Strikeforce, to take her back following her dismissal from Strikeforce this summer:

Cyborg is in a class by herself: Not too many chicks will want to develop muscles like hers as long as muscular women have their sex and/or sexual preference questioned in public.  That's why we don't have many creditable female martial artists.

what are you talking about? did you miss the whole thing where she was actually released by strikeforce for a short period because they couldn't agree on the price and all the threads that followed with all the debate if she does or does not deserve the money she was asking for? wtf

It's a great interview. It seems silly that the whole thread is just about the one minute Marloes spends on this topic.

Wrong, Cyborg was perfectly willing to fight for Strikeforce during the entire time she was on the shelf. Strikeforce was perfectly willing to have her fight, they just couldn't find an opponent for her to fight.

huh? cyborg didn't fight because her management was hardballing and re-negotiating her contract for more money for about a year, you could not have possibly missed that whole debacle if you follow mma at all

Why then has Cyborg been shelved for so long because there is vitually no one for her to fight?
