For the third time in his last seven fights, Thiago Alves has missed weight, coming at the UFC 138 weigh in at 172 pounds, one over the welterweight limit. Alves made weight on his second try.
Alves previously missed weight for his UFC 117 fight with Jon Fitch and for his UFC 85 fight with Matt Hughes. He also tested positive for a banned diuretic at UFC 66, which he allegedly took to help him make weight.
All the other fighters made weight.

I don't understand Alves. The guy is massive but refuses to fight at MW, presumably because him and his arms are too short (i.e. he has a small frame). If he has those limitations, then why the hell can't he just lose 5 damn pounds of muscle? It's not exactly rocket surgery. He won't die by walking at like 250lbs instead of 255lbs (or whatever the hell he weighs). If he insists on being a WW, he should keep his weight and muscle mass at appropriate levels...levels which, ironically, are more suited to his frame anyway. Can't stand Alves (or Rumble for that matter, though at least he's possibly moving up), but whatever. Go Cope! Go Leben!
those were 2 good face offs, looks like everybody's ready to have a war...hopefully thats what will happen bc im getting tired of these mediocre free cards they have in England each time...and Rogan says Alves was at 172 and needs to lose 1 pound...
