Faber finishes Bowles in 2nd, earns title fight

by Steve Cofield | source: sports.yahoo.com

Urijah Faber was tired of hearing he didn't deserve an immediate rematch against Dominick Cruz's UFC bantamweight title, so he took matters into his own hands and laid some lumber on Brian Bowles.

Faber crushed Bowles with an uppercut in the second. The Georgian was stunned and eventually found himself on his back when Faber nailed him with a knee in close quarters. Faber went into overdrive on the ground. Bowles couldn't fend him off. Faber eventually got control of Bowles' head and locked on a mean guillotine choke to get the submission victory at 1:27 of the second round at UFC 139 in the HP Pavilion.

Just seconds after the fight was finished, Faber immediately turned his attention to his nemesis Cruz.

Who in your opinion is more deserving of the shot? And please try your best not to give me a retarded answer. If Bowles had won would he have deserved the shot? If so, (and it is so) then why shouldn't Faber get it?

I'm not opposed to a 1 win streak before another shot in principle depending on the circumstances. In the case of the BW division yeah I agree it can be justified because it's not that strong yet. The only argument I have against Faber is how many failed attempts he's had lined up all in a row now.

jim miller went 6-0 and didnt get a shot, normally when a guy loses his belt or loses a title fight he wins a couple in a row to get another chance, but since its faber all he has to do is win once? really?lost to mike brown and instantly got another shot after one win, and lost again...won one fight and boom another title fight, lost again....at least he actually won 2 before he fought cruz, and losthe doesnt deserve a title fight after one win. other guys have multiple wins in a row, they deserve the shot

honestly cruz shouldnt have to fight faber again, i hate the faber gets so many title fights just because hes a fan fav. he doesnt deserve it over plenty of other guys. he had his chance and lost. 1 win shouldnt get him another title shot
