Dos Santos: Velasquez probably knew my knee was injured

source: sportv

Cain Velasquez appeared on the Brazilian television showBem, Amigos' (

"Yes, I did have an injury to my left knee 10 days before the fight. We knew his strategy would be to take me down.

"I don’t know if he had knowledge of my injury but in a minute and four seconds he kicked me in the knee seven times, so he probably knew about the injury, so much so that he accepted the fight standing, something I think he wouldn’t do otherwise because it wouldn’t be smart for him to do that.

I think JDS knew that Cain was injured and he was super slow since he was fatter and was had ring rust....so he exploited that

Cain landed some heavy leg kicks on Nog before KOing him. JDS' reaction after Cain kicked him the first couple of times probably only encouraged Cain more after he saw they were effective.Keep in mind Cain had an injured knee himself, so he wasn't 100% to wrestle and set up the take down.

No, he hasn't.he threw more leg kicks in the first round then he did in his last 3 fights.I seriously read the posts on this board and wonder how many people actually watch fights on a regular basis.

I didn't know Cain could speak Portuguese. I guess there's a lot of things we don't know about that man.

Looking back at that fight, all 64 seconds of it, it didn't really look like Cain had implemented much of a game plan. He got caught! I don't really see the point in speculating on whether your opponent is spying on you. Because this fight in particular proves it doesn't really matter. However, it sure makes for good talk show material.

I'm thinking this is the strategy that Javier Mendez was referring to when he said Cain didn't follow the game plan...

Or C. Drive him to the cage and work the takedown from the clinch.
