Edgar excited to bring 'fighting spirit' to Japan

by Matt Erickson | source: heavy.com

"I think they really appreciate the fighting spirit.," Edgar said "I bring it every time I fight, so I think they'll appreciate that."

For the first time in two years, Edgar gets to train for someone other than Penn or Maynard. His fourth-round TKO of Maynard last month in Houston, he said, was just what the doctor ordered – but he has no problem moving on to Henderson.

"It's really tough to predict how he's going to approach it and what he's thinking," Edgar said of his opponent. "I think Clay kind of drew him into that fast pace, anyway. Maybe he'll come in and be more technical, or maybe he'll be the one who wants to push the pace. That's the kind of guessing game we'll be thinking about these next couple of months."

He comes out and puts a pace on guys that they simply can't keep up with. I wouldn't call him a point fighter, just with his size its hard to to KO guys that are naturally 20lbs bigger. Hopefully the maynard ko gives him some more confidence to throw bigger shots. I still think he goes balls out every fight which means he brings it.

I was impressed with his last two fights. Besides that he's a poin fighter. And I don't think that is "bringing it" just my opinion tho so don't worry to much

ortman166 - Lol at "and I bring It every time" bendo takes this

He does bring it every time. The guy fights above his weight class and has the strap. That doesn't equal bringing it every time to you? If anyone brings it every time its Frankie Edgar.
Nobody has to draw Bendo into a high paced shootout, that's his type of fight.Nothing against Frankie but I'm hoping Bendo wins emphatically so can see Benson vs Cowboy III for the UFC strap.

I loved to see Frankie knock out Maynard, but mainly because of the trilogy and the amount of heart Frankie has in that cage... It would be great to see him keep the title in stunning fashion, BUT I don't think that's going to happen this time around... Bendo has real good wrasslin and I think he's going to dictate where the fight is going to take place. Frankie is going to try and bob n weave strike and coil but Bendo is hungry and is going to put everything he has into this fight. He won't gas as easily as Maynard and has way better standup. He will more than likely destroy Edgar, but then again who knows with that kid lol he might pull off a Rocky, always a possibility with him. If Bendo wins and Pettis wins against Lauzon and goes on to win a few after that it could setup quite possibly the best WEC Lightweight title fight / rematch / feud in the last few years. I also predict Dominick Cruz will move up to featherweight after Urijah takes the belt. Jose Aldo will kick the shit out of him and Jose will move up to lightweight and go on to fight at his natural weight of 155(now that he has more muscle on his frame it's the weight class he should be in, he's been having a real hard time cutting weight because he's starting to grow into his body) Jose @ 155 will beat Bendo/Edgar/Pettis pretty much anyone in the foreseeable future. That's what I predict ladies. That's all folks....for now. grimsgrind.tumblr
