Erik Paulson bummed out with Mir and Jones

At UFC 140, fans went delerious as Jon Jones and Frank Mir came back and won their fights with great finality - Jones left Machida unconscious, and Mir broke Big Nog's arm. Pioneering MMA figure Erik Paulson was less impressed, via his Facebook page.

"A little bummed out to see Mir break Nogeras Arm and not check to see if he was ok after the Fight. Also to see Jones Drop Machita on his face after he knew that he was out! safety and Well being of your Brothers after you share sweat and blood. then don't care about their well being. leaving a statement for the next generation of fighters that do it to you someday"

^^ that 2nd GIF above is disgusting, looks like the body and head don't belong together. I agree with the point being made, but that is crazy.

I think that you have to actively be disrepectful to deserve this kind of feedback. These guys were supposedly "passively disrespectful" and it is quibbling.Take that balding guy who wore a hat on TUF, and the celebration he did after the fight to cause a scene, that is disrespectful to your opponent.

This whole thing is such horseshit. What happened to Machida is normal when a guy refuses to tap to a standing guillotine. I dare somebody, anybody, who's complaining about the finish in that fight to find an example of a fighter gently lowering their unconconscious opponent to the canvas. If you want to blame somebody for Machida's head bouncing off the floor, it should be McCarthy. He told Jones to break the hold when he saw that Machida out was and pushed his hands away. It's McCarthy's fault that nobody was in position to catch Machida on the way down. Also, fuck Paulson. He's got a lot of fucking nerve lecturing other fighters on their conduct after the way that Lesnar has behaved himself in the cage.

Agree with Paulson. I don't fault Jones for putting Machida to sleep, or for Mir breaking Nog's arm, after all that is what the submissions are meant to do if the opponent doesn't tap. I think Mir's post fight behavior is the worst, however. He might feign concern, but you can tell that he gets off and thinks its cool to break his arm.And for the guy that said the point of MMA is to hurt people, go back to the fucking street you came from. It is a sport and an honorable competition, damage to the other person is part of it, but hurting someone is certainly not the point of it.

Relisten to the interview with Rogan in the cage.  It's right there for you if you want to verify it.
