Fitch in the mix, not the doghouse

“Jon Fitch is back at the top of the 170-pound division,” White stated following Wednesday’s UFC 141 press conference. “We’ve got some fights to make for [Georges St-Pierre] and Fitch is in there.”

While countless injuries and controversies have recently riddled his weight class, the UFC decided to keep Fitch sidelined. Some believed White was still punishing Fitch for refusing to sign away his likeness to appear in the company’s ‘Undisputed’ video game series.

White claims that couldn’t be further from the truth. As a matter of fact, MMA’s head honcho hasn’t even thought about Fitch’s brief firing from three years ago.

“That’s such [expletive], people pointing at the stuff when I got into it with him over the video game stuff,” White flatly stated. “I don’t even remember that [expletive] until I read it on the [expletive] Internet.

“I have no problem with Jon Fitch, he’s a nice guy. He’s a good guy, he’s a great fighter. I’ve got no problem with him whatsoever.”

Its not peoples fault for assuming Dana would still be punishing fitch and whatnot, it is Dana's. He has a reputation for being emotional and making decisions based on that then backpedalling(not always a backpedal though).

GSP destroyed fitch, it was a onesided beating that likely shortened fitchs fight career and maybe lifespan, as a fan i dont want to see another totally one sided beatdown. This is like Saku campaigning for a rematch with arona.

Aren't the fighters all 'independent contractors'? In other words, none of them are employed by the ufc.

Isn't illegal to fire someone over not wanting to sign over their image without adequate compensation? Heavy handed bullying from "the Man" is bullshit in every industry.

In the mix - aka an easy way to placate fighters and their expectations of what they deserve in relation to their accomplishment. At this rate Fitch'll retire 'in the mix'. At least this interim title situation gives him a chance to buoy interest in a GSP/Fitch 2 match, 'cuz right now I don't think ANYBODY wants to see it.

I didnt know fitch got cut? Seems like Dana cuts people for all sorts of reasons, then hires them again.
