Diaz batters Cerrone over three rounds for decision win

After plenty of smack talk, Nate Diaz delivered a three-round beating of Donald Cerrone. Diaz took the unanimous decision 30-27, 30-27, 29-28.

The battle started before the fight even began. When the two came to the center of the Octagon for fight instructions, Cerrone flashed Diaz the middle finger when told to touch gloves. "You can touch gloves ... or not," referee Herb Dean said.

They started throwing immediately, with Diaz trying for the takedown. Cerrone pushed him off and landed a punch on the way out. Diaz found his rhythm, and landed more strikes early in the bout. Cerrone responded later on with kicks, but Diaz gave the majority of punishment.

that's a good point....i thought some were simply trips, where some were legs kicks that blasted Diaz on his butt. but you're right, Diaz still control much of the pace and didn't need to alter his gameplan.Cerrone's has pretty good BJJ, but i was pretty sure he didn't want to go to the ground with Diaz...

just didn't look like the cowboy out there. wonder what happened to him. diaz can sure take a punch and kick. alot of other fighters could of got ko'd with those kicks

Maybe late 2012 but he needs more then two wins at 155 to deserve a shot at this point. When guys have four + fight streaks and don't get shots in that division. It is a STACKED division and he shouldn't even be the first in his camp to get a shot at the UFC LW belt.

I was one of Nate's biggest critics and have said for years that he has never really beaten a top tier fighter. Now I can say he has. Still not a fan of his antics but the guys is improving. Now let's see him beat a wrestler.
