'King Mo' Lawal tests positive for steroids; vehemently denies results

Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammal Lawal has tested positive for anabolic steroids (Drostanolone) following his Jan. 7, 2012, technical knockout (TKO) win over Lorenz Larkin at the Strikeforce: "Rockhold vs. Jardine" event at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) Executive Director Keith Kizer today alerted MMAmania.com to the results of Lawal's drug test.

Also screened for performance enhancing drugs, as well as drugs of abuse were Luke Rockhold, Keith Jardine, Robbie Lawler, Muhammed Lawal, Tyron Woodley, Tarec Saffiedine, Tyler Stinson, Nah-Shon Burrell, James Terry, Gian Villante, Trevor Smith, Ricky Legere, Chris Spang, Estevan Payan and Alonzo Martinez.

"I'm very surprised about this. I am very careful about what I put into my body," Lawal said Tuesday. "I've never tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug. I've gone through, and still welcome, Olympic-style testing."

"I will do whatever is necessary to get to the bottom of this."

"I'm not a cheater," Lawal said. "I might cheat at video games, but I never cheat at fighting."

I can't believe how many people scream "INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!!!!!" as if it has any impact outside of a courtroom.He failed a steroid test, it's guilty until proven innocent in this case.

I always knew this fool was a cheater. He always says if u ain't cheatin you ain't tryin. I actually think rampage would kill him if they fought. A win over queen mo is a setback for rampage anyways

I'm hearing from family that he will be cleared shortly of this and it's all a mistake. Until I hear differently, I'm going to give people the benefit of the doubt. After all.... We do live in the land of "INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY" and not trial by media.

I never claimed to be speaking for all people, but I do think most would agree that what I said, although cynical is simply the reality of the situation. At the end of the day, whether consciously or subconsciously, fans just want to see exciting fights, but most don't really want to know how the sausage is made. I'm just stating how things are, not how they should be.
