White: Penn not quite ready to come back

After that initial statement, Penn backed off the retirement talk, but didn’t want to commit to exactly what the future held for him in the sport of MMA.

Now it appears that Penn is back talking to UFC president Dana White, but still not ready to make the statement that he’s ready to come back to the UFC just yet.

“I have been talking to B.J. Penn. Talked to B.J. Penn last week, it’s the first time B.J. and I have talked since his fight,” White revealed on Thursday.

“He’s just chilling right now. B.J. just wants to relax and figure out what he wants to do with his career.”

BJ is not that old, and hasn't had that many fights when you consider how long he's been active, but the choices he's made in terms of strength of conditioning are telling. First, everybody knows about Marinovich brothers leaving, but what about his decision to only work with Rob Garcia for the 3rd Hughes fight before cutting him loose? To me, that's the biggest issue that needs addressing, not what weight he chooses to fight at.

An interview not too long ago, can't find it. I don't think BJ would have fought the Gracie's either had Ralph not made a stink about BJ competing in jitz under the Nova unaio banner.

Where is source of them saying they wont fight each other? BJ wasn't with Nova Uniao for very long before he went to AKA. Maybe a year or 2, I don't see that stopping them from fighting each other. He has fought AKA guys, he has fought Gracie guys, why wouldn't he fight Nova Uniao guys. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Yes sire, very sure. BJ isnt Nova unaio currently, but that is where he went after he left Ralph Gracie, and is the main reason the Gracie's don't like him. Not long ago both he and Aldo were asked about fighting each other and they both said it wouldn't happen
