GSP opens as 3-1 favorite over Condit

by Chris Palmquist | source: betonfighting.com

Today, betting site BetOnFighting.com, opened the betting lines and GSP opened as a big favorite:

Georges St-Pierre: -350

Carlos Condit: +270

For those unfamiliar with how betting on mixed martial arts, the favorite is assigned a negative number which is a multiple of how favored he is for a bet of $100.00. St-Pierre is at -350 and therefore a bettor would need to bet $350.00 dollar to win $100.00.

As an underdog, Condit is assigned a positive number which is a multiple of his chances for a $100.00 bet. In this case, with Condit  at +270, the bettor would stand to win $270.00 if he/she placed a $100.00 bet on Condit.

Disagree. I think Diaz would've had a better chance because he has a better ground game than Condit. Condit won't have an answer for GSP off his back, Diaz probably wouldn't either, but I'd put more stock in his attempt than Condit's.

This is exactly how fight will go. Ref says "fight!"Condit throws wild flying knee or spinning strike, GSP power doubles right through it. Proceeds to blue ball him for the next 4:30. Repeat x 5.

Look how easy Rory Macdonald was handling Carlos, untill Rory got caught with 20 seconds left in the 3rd. GSP is going to walk right through Condit.

Easy fight for Georges. Diaz would have been easier though.

Uh, and why would we be full of shit? In the betting world, you dont always pick the favorite. Upsets happen. And this is an opportune time for one.

"If I was a betting man, I would certainly take Condit in this one."Same here, I am putting some $$$ on Condit. While I am a GSP fan, this is the PERFECT time for an upset. Major surgery + ring rust.

Typical GSP fan. Smashing people by decision. How do you break someones orbital in the first round and not finish them? Especially when you are "Champion"And don't give me that, "You can't always finish your opponent shit"GSP is scared to try and finish someone even when he knows he has them hurt and out matched.Good guy but boring "fighter"

If I was a betting man, I would certainly take Condit in this one. Coming off a major surgery is a hell of an opportune time to get the upset.I just said this is another thread but again, people are losing their heads over this "controversial" performance by Condit. Look at his past bouts, this guy is a VERY exciting fighter. People are so short-sighted, its ridiculous.
