Diaz earned a flat salary, so a victory wouldn't have netted him a win bonus. The same went with Fabricio Werdum ($100,000).

These figures are only the disclosed pay, and are not an accurate refection of each fighter's compensation.

Fighters typically bear significant costs including training expenses, a percentage to management, a percentage to the trainer, insurance, licenses, and taxes.

On the income side, sponsorship money can be a substantial portion, or even exceed the purse from the fight. Further, the UFC often gives out undisclosed "locker room" bonuses for exceptional performance. Elite level fighters can negotiate a portion of the PPV revenue, which can substantially exceed the disclosed payout.

Further, many fighters earn income from teaching, from appearances, and in many cases from regular employment in the non fighting space.

The only thing that seems weird to me is Roy Nelson's flat rate. $85k is a good pay day, but $20k as a flat rate seems strange to me for a TUF winner and co-main eventer who fights champions and legends in the sport on a regular basis.

No, idiot. Nick is ALWAYS moaning about "how he doesn't get enough money to do this". In what other profession (if he retired from the fight game) could he earn that kind of money?None. What qualifications/skills has he got? The dude has trouble stringing a sentence together ffs.It's just that he moans about his pay, yet if he went for a job that was non-fighting then he'd see that he was earning a fortune compared to some people who moan nowhere near as much as he does.

To say that Nick "could NEVER earn $200k in another job" is dumb. That is his job, and it's a profession he's trained his entire adult life to do. Whether someone makes as much money as an MMA fighter doing whatever they do is irrelevant. You'll also never make as much as a doctor or a lawyer, so what?

Dana alluded to the fact that based on the money from diaz last 2 fights in the ufc that he can retire if so choose to do so. Also a reporter in the pre-conference suggested to nick that he would make close to 1 million for this fight and 2 million if he were to go on and fight GSP.What we don't see in that final pay is what the ufc pays out money well named fighter upon signing the contract. He also gets a cut from the ppv being on main event. Bottom line, he's getting paid. And it ain't no 200k.
