Rousey on AC testing for pot: What's next, testing for genital warts?

source: mmascrapsradio

Incandescent women's MMA star Ronda Rousey was notorious in Judo circles for speaking her mind, and she brings that attitude to MMA. In an interview with MMA Scraps Radio, she talks about Athletic Commission testing for Marijuana in MMA.

The topic of course comes up because Nick Diaz recently tested positive for a second time in Nevada, and faces stiff penalties, including a possible year suspension. Diaz has a medical marijuana card in his home state of California, due to an diagnosis for Attention Deficit Disorder.

Nevada State Athletic Commission chairman Keith Kizer has pointed out that the issue is not a morality, but simply that you cannot let a fighter fight while high. "The drug is banned because of the damage it does to the person taking it," said Kizer. "It could make you lethargic, slow your reflexes, and those are dangerous things in a combat sport."

Rousey disagrees.

"The athletic commissions testing for marijuana is an invasion of privacy," Rousey said. "I don't think that's constitutional at all. There's no real reason that they should be able to test and make the athletes conform to their political ideas," .

"They have just as much of right to say that 'you know what? We don't believe that athletes should be promiscuous so we're going to start testing for genital herpes and genital warts."

"'We're going to start testing women for birth control because we don't think you be having premarital sex. They don't have a right to do it. It has nothing to do with sports."

"Anyone who is stupid enough to say that smoking weed enhances your performance has never fought or never smoked weed. It actually lowers your testosterone. It doesn't help you in anyway at all."

alcohol and nicotime is LEGAL... Marijuana is ILLEGAL. Can you not understand that? At any moment the federal government could walk into california and arrest anyone and everyone who is distributing marijuana. You sir need to go reread what i wrote.. because at no point did i "describe" (lol.. looking for my buddy aka "the grammar police" to mock him) adderall to anyone. and at no point did i say THC was cocaine.. Get off the drugs and read correctly. There are many options for people who are depressed, anxious, stressed, insomnia, back pains etc etc... Saying he "NEEDS" marijuana for any of these conditions is bullshit.. Please find me in any medical journal, or peer reviewed journal of health where any doctor will say. "well guys, this mans stressed out.. He should smoke weed."Im assuming you as well smoke marijuana? Job security, thnx.

Alcohol and nicotine can also be detrimental to young peoples health, but athletes are not prohibited from enjoining it on their spare time. Your argument is irrelevant and silly. You say he doesn't have cancer, but his doctor has still described it too him for his well being. Who are you to say how Nick is to be medicated? Do you know his medical history and are you a recognized medical specialist? No you are not. Even more ridiculous is it that while you blatantly display your ignorance by putting the use of THC side by side with benzoylmethylecgonine (cocaine), you go ahead and recommend Adderall, and AMPHETAMINE SALT based medication as an healthier and more viable medication for whatever is ailing Nick; which could be anything from anxiety, insomnia, depression, back pains and even ADD.

third: so?fourth: so?You are disregaurding illicit drug use with a simple "so?"... Wow.. The reason Marijuana (THC) along with other illicit drugs is monitored in athletes is because it is ILLEGAL. like i really dont understand what part of this you cant understand. You give a drug test for illicit drugs because they should NOT be in his body at all. Does this man have cancer? does he need weed to survive his day to day life? No, he doesnt. He smokes weed cuz he likes to get high. period. but for shits and giggles..Please explain to me how a person who has ADD. which is medically treated with a stimulant(such as adderall) needs a medical marijuana liscense? Marijuana ofcourse being a sedative hypnotic... The only thing Marijuana stimulates is your appetite and pleasure portions of the brain. Using marijuana at a young age has been shown to result in structural and functional deficits of the brain. This could cause you to develop weakened verbal and communication skills, it could lower learning capabilities and shorten attention span...(definately what a person with ADD needs) I mean with your arguement he should be taking cocaine and as long as he isnt high while in the cage its okay.Im only ganna say this one more time.. If you wanna get high, thats your own business.. Im not your parent... but when you are is a profession, where you sign on the dotted line and it says.. "will be subject to drug screenings." and you fail the drug test. You are basically stating you do not care about being employed enough to stop whatever drugs you were doing long enough to piss in a cup.Thats how sad this guy is.. He couldnt stop smoking for 4 weeks.. he "needs" weed that much...sad..

Honestly, Rousey should talk less and stick to fighting. It's one thing to be controversial to get attention, it's another to be clueless or just plain idiotic.

She clearly has no idea what she's talking about (marijuana is not banned because it enhances performance, for one ...), she just opens her mouth to get headlines.
