Koscheck: Hendricks threw a lucky punch

source: mmamania.com

The former division number one contender explains at the pre-fight press conference why things are "looking up for him" as he prepares to "make that run again," after the jump.

"For the record kid, I'm not a stepping stone. I see this fight as a big opportunity for me to make that run again and Johny Hendricks isn't gonna win this fight. His fight (against Jon Fitch) didn't really last very long, so I really couldn't judge how good he is. I watched the fight and it looked like he threw a lucky punch with his eyes closed and it landed. This fight excites me. It's kind of like the pride of wrestling. He was a two-time champ in NCAA. I can respect that because I know how hard it is to win the NCAA title. I'm in a new place right now and I've got my own Dethrone base camp gym for me. I've got a lot of new coaches and new training partners. Things are looking up for me."

This. I'll never understand that. He was trying to hit him. And he did. How is it luckier than any other punch?

It's the combination of high level wrestling and knockout power that makes the difference in Hendricks IMO.

It's just ridiculous the way people are talking about this fight.  You'd think Josh was the one who never fought a big puncher.

Of course I know the difference but they are knockouts any way you put it. I'm just stating the facts....

I don't think you know the difference between a TKO, and a legit knockout.     And bringing up the Amir fight just makes you look silly.

He actually has 4 KOs in the UFC including a 30 sec KO of Amir Sadollah in his debut and two KOTNs.
