Chiesa chokes Iaquinta unconscious, crowned TUF Live Champion

by Mike Chiappetta | source: mmafighting.com

During recent months, Michael Chiesa has experienced the gamut of emotions. In that time, he earned his dream of getting a slot on the The Ultimate Fighter only to suffer the heartbreak of losing his father to leukemia shortly after beginning the competition. And now, he has captured season 15 of TUF, choking Al Iaquinta unconscious at 2:40 of the first round of the TUF Live Finale.

In doing so, Chiesa won a UFC contract, a Harley-Davidson, and a TapouT endorsement deal.

"This is exactly what i wanted. This has been such a journey and there was no way I was going to sell myself short. There was no way I was losing this fight."

I have to completely disagree with you. I watched the entire series. What I witnessed is his "will" and "heart" to win was more important than his opponents skill level. This has nothing to do with his appearance. You can't teach "heart." I hope he has a very good future with the UFC.Furthermore, if his appearance does motivate "anyone" to train and get into this sport... Well that's GREAT!!!

If it was based on the fighter as a person then yea, everybody should have rooted for MC. But this is supposed to showcase the next big thing, the huge young mma prospect for the ufc, and what they got is a guy who would make a bar fighter look like he was Anderson Silva. Probably the absolute worst stand up in the UFC really. TUF should be for a Strikeforce contract then you work your way up to the UFC, come on this guy will get destroyed by anyone else in the division. It makes the sport look so amateur when you see guys who are complete "bro's" and have never trained a martial art in their life until they watched a UFC and decided "I can do that too!" then they somehow get into the big leagues with little to no minor experience and showcase how not to fight another man.
