Is Jlau the Submission of the Night leader?

source: The Underground

Joe Lauzon is widely reported to be tied with Demain Maia, Terry Etim, and Nate Diaz for most Submission of the Night performance bonus wins, at four each.

JLau SOTYs:
Joe Lauzon vs. Melvin Guillard, UFC 136, October 8, 2011
Joe Lauzon vs. Chris Warburton, UFC on Versus 4/UFC Live: Kongo vs. Barry, June 26, 2011
Joe Lauzon vs. Gabriel Ruediger, UFC 118, August 28, 2010
Joe Lauzon vs. Jeremy Stephens, UFC Fight Night 17/UFC Fight Night: Lauzon vs. Stephens, February 7, 2009

In addition, Lauzon has won three Fight of the Night bonuses:

Joe Lauzon vs. George Sotiropoulos, UFC 123, November 20, 2010
Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout, UFC 10, January 2, 2010
Joe Lauzon vs. Kenny Florian, UFC Fight Night: Florian vs. Lauzon, April 2, 2008

However, Lauzon reportedly won a Submission of the Night bonus for choking out Brandon Melendez at the TUF 5 Finale, and a Knockout of the Night bonus for his 48-second KO of Jens Pulver at UFC 63. but these bonuses were never officially announced by the UFC.

Kevin Iole refers to the KOOTY here.

The UFC's own website refers to him as having won Submission of the Night four times (Warburton, Melendez, Stephens, Ruediger), and currently omits his latest Submission of the Night, over Melvin Guillard.

Thus, it appears that Joe Lauzon is the all-time Submission of the Night leader in the UFC.

For an example of the excitement, even levitation, that Lauzon generates check out:

I'm not sure what you mean. The list at the bottom of the link you just pasted lists: Guillard, Warburton, Melendez, Stephens, Ruediger. Which corresponds with the 4 known SOTN and also the one there was some uncertainty about, Brandon Melendez, which cagepotato lists as fact, and I see ufc.com confirmed. I think we agree.

UFC.com profile of Lauzon (list includes Melendez, and not Guillard), so I think it is five, and Lauzon leads the sport.

http://www.cagepotato.com/mma-stats-ufc-performance-bonus-leaderboard/ This total includes Joe Lauzon's reported Knockout of the Night bonus for his 48-second KO of Jens Pulver at UFC 63 and his Submission of the Night bonus for choking out Brandon Melendez at the TUF 5 Finale, but these bonuses were never officially announced by the UFC.   Oh, and Joe is nr 1 on SOTN, yes, after him comes Nate Diaz, Demian Maia & Terry Etim with 4 each.

Does anyone have any idea why Lauzon is generally credited with only four Submission of the Night awards?

I love that video, especially the guy off to the right who is all focused and silent, and then goes bonkers.
