Got my blue belt today from sidney silva

There is a tradition in some BJJ schools called "running the gauntlet," in which the final step in earning a new belt is two walk between two rows of teammates, gi off, as they wack the newly promoted student with their belts.

To some it is a valuable team building exercise; others view it more as an unfortunate frat boy hazing ritual, or even akin to being beaten into a street gang.

Regardless of your view, the overwhelming response to this is... CHRIS LEBEN IS ONLY A BLUE BELT??!? :-)

That's what I was thinking. Maybe he was a yellow belt at the time? Lol @ 2 jupiters "never bring a Nascar reference to a brain fight" I guess I've seen too many viral videos because I was just waiting for that little girl to get knocked silly by accident.

is it common practice for lower (white) belts to also join in on the gauntlet? im just a noob white myself, but at my gym its usually just same level belt or higher that get in on the belt slap action.
