White: UFC still not interested in Fedor

by Chris Palmquist | source: The Underground

Today, UFC President Dana White confirmed exclusively to the Underground that the UFC is still not interested in Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko.

Emeliaenenko, who won his third straight bout this past Friday against Pedro Rizzo in St. Petersburg, announced his retirement in the post-fight press conference. The three wins came after a string of losses for the Strikeforce promotion.

That was Friday. Yesterday, Emelianenko revealed to Inside MMA on HD Net that 'anything was possible', when asked if he would consider a bout against Brock Lesnar or any other big name opponent.

When asked if they might still be interested in bringing Fedor to the UFC, Dana White replied simply "Isn't he retired?". Simple, but to the point.

The truth is money talks, and Fedor is still a guy fans would want to see the UFC, so only time will tell if the impossible will ever be made possible.

MMA is running into the same problem which has plagued boxing. Name recognition is dwindling. And Dana doesn't help when he puts HIMSELF on magazine covers instead of the fighters.Fedor is still a "name". Would be crazy to pass up on him when he has about 2 good years left. Also, Hetfield > Putin? Only in the UG. Hetfield just complained a while back that Metallica is FORCED to tour because they are broke.

It's not going to happen. If it was going to happen, it would have happened years ago when Fedor was the best of the best.  I love Fedor, and the assassination of Pedro Rizzo was absolutely vicious, but I don't think the UFC is going to ever budge on terms, nor do I see Fedor/M1 ever budging on their terms.  They had a full ass house in that building, what do they need the UFC for?  Conversely, what does the UFC need Fedor for?  Of course he draws ratings, but so do all of their stars, and realistically... the time has more than probably passed where this is ever going to be feasible. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it.  I'm a long-time Fedor fan and I still believe he is one of the best heavyweights in the world.

Carwin just needs to hit Fedor once to rock him, with a few more shots to KO him cold.I dont see Fedor KOing Carwin. JDS has incredible power, and couldnt finish carwin.

Have him fight Carwin. Fedor likes to throw punches mostly now and that's right up Carwin's back alley.
