Lombard explains why he wants Munoz next

by Matt Erickson & John Morgan | source: mmajunkie.com

Saturday, I'm focused on this fight," Lombard told MMAjunkie.com after a workout session in Calgary. "And after that, I'm going to call Mark Munoz out. I'm focused on the fight, but I'm going to call out Mark Munoz after. That's my goal.

"I'm going to make a statement no matter what. But after that, I'm going to beat up Mark Munoz."

Lombard said Munoz, who a week ago suffered a brutal knockout loss at the hands of Chris Weidman at UFC on FUEL TV 4, has been running his mouth about him. And that, Lombard said, has rubbed him the wrong way.

"He's been talking a lot of trash about me," said Lombard, the former Bellator middleweight champ. "I'm one of those fighters that I don't like to talk about any fighter. I'm focused on myself. When I see people that do the wrong things, I have to do something about it."

Lombard, of course, realizes he's got Boetsch standing in front of him on Saturday in the co-main event. And with a 25-fight unbeaten streak coming in, with his last loss coming nearly six years ago, and the pressure of being the most prominent Bellator fighter to sign with the UFC, Lombard knows he must first win in Calgary before he can officially let Munoz know he wants to dance.

But if he beats Boetsch, and beats him impressively – he's more than a 3-to-1 favorite – would he really turn down a title shot against Silva?

"One hundred percent. You got it," he told MMAjunkie.com. "I don't want to talk about it. I don't want to talk about him. I just want to fight him. I want to fight him bad."

the only way I see him getting Munoz is by losing.. he should watch what he wishes for

Same rings true for Boetsch. Furthermore, you don't have to be looking past a guy just because you want to fight someone else as well.Munoz has been talking smack for a while, it's not like Lombard when on a losing streak because he wants to fight the guy.

There's no winning on this board. He's basically saying win or lose, he wants to deal with a personal issue. Someone who also happens to be a fighter talked some mess so he wants to shut him up. Pretty simple. If he loses to Munoz, would he really have beaten Anderson anyways? There's no serious drawback to this move... if he loses, he wasn't ready. If he wins, it's a baby step forward instead of a nice leap by beating a contender. His call.

He seems to be overlooking the Barbarian. I hope Boetsch whoops his ass

Not a good fight for him career wise. Munoz just got smashed and lombard wants a title. If lombard looses i'd make that fight but not if he won.

This. I get being annoyed by it. But take care of business against Boetsch. Then you can talk smack about Munoz being a loser or something, while you move on to potentially fight for the belt.Remember how Munoz was looking past Weidman to Silva? I won't be shocked if the same result happens with Lombard, now. And, then, yes - Hector would likely get the fight he wants.

I don't give a shit if Lombar has a stronger mind than some internet fan, I care if his mind is strong enough to be a professional fighter and defeat the likes of Anderson Silva lol I also hope he doesn't get taught by me or another critic, maybe instead get help from a psychiatrist like GSP, Sonnen or other athletes have used to become successful lol Course this is all premature, gotta see how he handles UFC fighters
