Hendo's knee injured 3 weeks ago, will get another title shot

by Eduardo Cruz | source: fightersonlymag.com

Dan Henderson’s coach for Muay Thai and MMA striking Daniel Woirin revealed exclusively to Fighters Only today that the injury to Dan Henderson’s knee happened three weeks ago, when he tried to defend a takedown in a training.

Henderson’s team had to convince the 41 year-old fighter not to perform and also confirmed that they have been told Henderson will get another title shot as soon as he is completely recovered from the injury.

“It was very difficult for him to refuse the fight," said Woirin. "All the team had to convince him not to do it."

“We did a final sparring yesterday to evaluate his condition and he really didn't have the chance to fight with Jones. It is so depressing for everybody. Many things are involved in a high-level fight like this one, but unfortunately, this happened."

I think this is proof of how emotional the UG is and how they cant separate thinking from like/dislike.Im not mad at Dan (nor Jones nor UFC for cancelling for that matter) but Dan dam sure could have given his employer a heads up as soon as it was possible he may have had to pull out. He didnt and thats fine, not mad but amazing that there is absolutely no hate on him and the world is apparently on Jones' shoulders. There's the UG for ya.

The mind reels at imagining the epic backlash if Jones pulled out of the fight this weekend (presumably still causing the event to be cancelled), revealing he had injured himself three weeks ago.

Oh my the levels of crazy starting to happen in this thread. First this is awful! Poor Hendo and I really really hope that he does get another title shot upon his return. Second, really people?! Chael, who practically worships Hendo, is gonna take him out so he can take on Jones without a training camp? What's more this was before he officially moved to LHW which UFC was resisting.I'm going to back away from the comments in this thread and just say that I'm super disappointed this happened to Hendo and hope he gets well soon and is better than ever!
