Hardy wins exciting fight over Amir Sadollah (w/ video highlights)

source: mmajunkie.com

Hardy, fighting in his home city for the first time in more than four years, got off to a fairly slow start. He and Sadollah traded blows from distance and the clinch in the first round. Sadollah, though, seemed to get the edge by setting up power shots with effective low kicks.

Hardy, though, found his range in the second round. Hardy mixed kicks and punches before scoring a double-leg takedown early in the round. Sadollah eventually got to his feet, but Hardy closed the distance, traded knees and elbows from the clinch, and then scored a final takedown to batter Sadollah with ground and pound before the round ended.

In the deciding third frame, both fighters came out active and traded solid shots. But Hardy again forced the fight to the mat with a trip-takedown, dodged submissions as his opponent was pinned against the cage, and then opened some facial lacerations with elbows from the top. A badly bleeding Sadollah briefly got to his feet before the fight ended, but he ate some additional punches for his efforts.

It was awesome if your a fan of Hardy and were happy that he won in his home town...But other than that, it was hardly and exciting fight. Hardy played it safe, he wall-n-stalled Sadollah for most of the 2nd and 3rd round and got a few takedowns but just held him down without much offense. There is a reason that this fight didn't get FOTN... I partially blame Sadollah for not putting up more of a fight when Hardy turned the fight into a grappling match

Ya they didn't do anything else. Wait, so you know that Amir's bell wasn't ringing from those elbows, didn't make Amir put himself in bad positions, etc?
