Dave Bautista, better known as Batista, battled Vince Lucero at CES 12's "Real Pain" at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, R.I., on Saturday night.
He got the victory, but he needs to improve.
In the defense of Bautista, at 265.5 pounds, he was clearly outsized by the 300-pound Lucero (22-22-1).
It showed for the first few minutes of the fight, as Bautista had little offense and took a few hits while against the fence.
Finally, though, Bautista, who admitted to having some debut butterflies, executed a double-leg takedown and finished Lucero with a series of punches in 4 minutes abd 5 seconds, in the first round.
Bautista said after the fight he's "better than I showed."
While he's been training in Tampa with UFC fighter Stephan Bonner and will likely continue to do so, he's not making a new career out of this. He'll fight a few times, maybe get a decent opponent down the line and then be back in WWE for one more run.

And Cain... He smashed Lesnar, but he had to rip half the guy's face off to do it. Lesnar wasn't going out, he just had no answer. He definitely has a serious chin.
He never looked like he was in danger of going out. He was panicked and turtled because he had so little striking experience, but, damn... That elbow alone was brutal, it sounded like a hockey stick hitting ice. If you look in the background at that moment, you can see Chuck Lidell in the stands. His wife is cringing and covering her face with both arms, and Chuck pulls her close to protect her when that elbow lands.
Wow! Those overhand rights thrown early by Lucerno looks awfully suspect to me... They could not even knock a baby out of its highchair and he weighs over 300lbs.
LBH, what kind of crack do you smoke? It must be strong stuff, for you to compare those sloppy slap-punches to Shane Carwin. Lesnar was the only guy who was able to endure Shane's 1st round barrage. Everybody else was out cold in the 1st.Don't talk out of your butt.
The event was awesome for the Northeast fighters. A lot of guys from the local GYM TriForce MMA threw down and provided more then half the cards entertainment. It should be known that Chad Reiner is a huge bitch for backing out of his fight with Keith Jeffreys not even a week before the scheduled event, causing CES not to have enough time to replace Reiner. Awesome event Dave did well considering he's only been training for a couple years and has had ZERO fights. I mean really what did everyone really expect?
