Koscheck interested in fights with Maia, Diaz

Though he was hoping to fight by the end of the year, Josh Koscheck will wait for the calendar to turn.

When he returns, the former UFC welterweight title challenger has a few ideas of whom he'd like to fight. It's a short list, but it's a veritable who's-who of the 170-pound class.

Koscheck (17-6 MMA, 15-6 UFC) on Tuesday named Nick Diaz, Demian Maia, Jake Ellenberger and Rory MacDonald as opponents he's interested in.

"Doesn't look like UFC has a fight (for) me until (2013). So I'll just train and get better," Koscheck stated on Twitter. The fighter then went on to list the four opponents he's most interested in.

Well, he knew he wasn't going to get anywhere on the ground with GSP, so he decided his best chance was on the feet. Honestly, I never saw Koscheck winning that fight the first time, and wasn't surprised by the outcome the second time. He just can't hang with St. Pierre. Now, Diaz? He can definitely beat him. Just has to use that wrestling.

I think it's good he's got some time off for his eye.  It blew up again with Hendricks and the more time he has to heal it before his next fight, the better.   Diaz or McDonald will hit it for sure.

I think the only one which fits is Ellenberger. They are both looking to get back into the contender mix with Kos coming off a loss in a contender eliminator and Ellenberger looking less than stellar his last two matches after being on the doorstep of a title shot. Let them fight each other to determine whose contendership was more legitimate. Maia is coming off back to back 1st round stoppages over contender gatekeeper types. He should be in the contender door already. I think the fight most want to see is him against Jon Fitch.Diaz is still a contender fighting last for the interim belt and losing a disputed decision.MacDonald is a contender if he beats KFC Penn.

I'd love to see McDonald vs Koscheck, Mia vs Fitch and give Diaz to Ellenberger to serve as a warm up test for Diaz, since he hasn't faced a good wrestler in like 7 years and if he's going to be a serious contender in a division with wrestlers then he needs to prove he can beat at least one before getting the shot.

Actually Fresno, Stockton, etc. are all kind of shit IMO.Regardless, Kos is always willing to step up and challenge himself and love that about the guy. Wouldn't mind seeing him against any of those guys he expressed interest in fighting.

Oh...that's where this guy's problems lie - He wrote a fanboy letter to Nick and never got a response. Cry a river keyboard geek.

What's a leg tap? Funny that ppl invent new shit to defend their favorite fighter that doesn't give a fuck about his fans
