Henderson confirms Feb.2 bout with Machida

Dan Henderson is nearly set for his first fight since an injury forced him out of a title fight with UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Henderson (29-8 MMA, 6-2 UFC) will meet fellow contender Lyoto Machida (18-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) at UFC 156 on Super Bowl weekend, he told Spike TV's "MMA Uncensored Live" on Thursday.

UFC officials, though, haven't made a formal announcement.

UFC 156 takes place Feb. 2 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas with a featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar. The main card, including the likely Henderson vs. Machida fight, airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

i think they were going hard all year... the problem was injuries and drug tests.  almost every card was scheduled stacked.

Crazy IMO that anyone wouldn't be interested in this fight.

I don't know about that. Rampage has an extremely strong base, and imo is harder to take down than henderson. I think  Machida takes Henderson down whenever he wants, if he wants.

I think so too, but rampage beat machida( at least in the judges eyes) by clinching and pushing him around him a bit. And hendos clinch game is better than rampages, so I wouldn't write him off completely. Is this headlining a card? In a 5 round fight hendos chances lessen

If it was I would bet on Machida winning by TKO late rds.
