a few reasons...   1) Fox had the delusion that this was boxing so they just wanted to focus on 1 fight.  which became a one minute clip with 40 minutes of talking. 2) then Fox and Zuffa had the bright idea of showcasing collegiate wrestlers for the second card to show the mainstream "real athletes"   it became a borefest. 3) after both of these backfired in their faces, zuffa became very dissillusioned with the friday night time slot and being stuck on fuel so they began scheduling lower level cards on Fox as retaliation (diaz/miller, Lombard/Stann). early summer Fox and Zuffa had a week long meeting.  It seems everything has been ironed out and thus we are now seeing a re-boot to the relationship and strategy. Unfortunately you make a first and second impression only once... and we saw the ratings go to shit after the second show.  Now they have to rebuild everything and build up the audience. If they had just done things right from the get go it would have been huge.  (full fight cards on fox with the usual great matchmaking, tuf on wednesdays, fx fight nights on saturdays, fuel main cards on FX saturdays, fight night prelims on fuel. etc...) the UFC would be exploding.

Is anyone else here surprised to find Henderson is a large favorite in the odds? I'm a Benson fan and was surprised.

Finally a main card again that is stacked from top to bottom. I personally think the undercard will deliver as well. I hope this can repair some of the damage done by the less then stellar cards the UFC has put together as of late. Why they did not start out with putting these type of cards on Fox is really beyond me (you have to build the hype first and then settle with the product not the other why around).   Hendo will smash Diaz btw...I am personally a fan but so many Diaz fanboys are so far out there that i might actually relish a dominant performance from mr smooth. Same goes for BJ vs Rory. I love BJ and everything he has done for the sport but he will get smashed as well. Considering some of his rabid fans this might also be a realitycheck that might be needed.
