Machida vs. Henderson now confirmed for UFC 157

It appears as though Dan Henderson vs. Lyoto Machida is headed to UFC 157.

According to sources close to the event, both Machida and Henderson have verbally agreed to meet on the Feb. 23 card at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. No contracts have been signed just yet, though. Tatame.com first reported the news earlier this week.

The fight isn't expected to serve as the main event. UFC president Dana White told MMAFighting.com on Tuesday that he was "working on" that card's headlining act.

Dan Henderson will pick apart Lyoto from striking range using accurate punches. He will dart in and dart out and will be elusive for Lyoto to hit. Dan will use his speed and will win the fight easily.

I'm going to take Machida on this one... He's got such amazing skills on his feet, finding range, accuracy. If he gets hit by the wrecking ball right hand of Hendo it's lights out but it's not going to be easy to catch Machida.

Dan has been getting rocked alot lately. Feijao almost had him. Fedor had him dancing from one side of the cage to the other. Shogun dropped him. Thia is a bad match up for Dan. Machida might KO him.

Hendo's chin has shown no signs of cracking at all, so assuming that will happen in his next fight is a massive leap of faith.Machida landed as best he could on Rampage, staggered him but never knocked him down, and was not close to TKOing him. Rampage and Hendo have comparable chins. If anything Hendo's is better - Rampage's chin has been cracked multiple times, pretty brutally, whereas Hendo's has never ever been cracked (though Anderson and Shogun came closest). Machida is no Anderson and doesn't have the power of Shogun.Any objective person knows the odds of Machida TKOing Hendo are extremely slim, these people picking Lyoto to TKO Hendo are not thinking very clearly. However Lyoto has an excellent chance at decisioning Hendo.

I'm a big Hendo fan but I have to agree Machida seems like a bad match up for him. However I could see Lyoto outlanding him early and getting too confident and getting clipped. Especially if he goes for that lunging knee to the body he likes to use.
