Pearson stops Sotiropoulos by strikes in 3rd

source: mmafighting.com

After a brief drop to featherweight, Ross Pearson returned to where he came from, the 155-pound division, with a challenging match against former lightweight contender Georges Sotiropoulos. The bout had been long simmering, as the two coached against each other on the UK vs. Australia edition of The Ultimate Fighter, and grew a dislike for each other as a result.

Before the fight, Pearson said he would be fighting with anger for the first time, but when it came time to compete in the UFC on FX 6 main event, he fought with self-control, carefully choosing his spots in picking apart Sotiropoulos, chopping him down bit by bit en route to a TKO victory.

The finish came 41 seconds into the third round.

Nice!Ross's boxing is an example of a guy that has confidence in his ability and training. he doesn't rush and is patient, but seizes opportunties immediately. he's kind of decieving to watch, because he just kinda ambles around out there, but slips like a pro and uses great combos and counters.IMO, G-Sot needs to go back to the drawing board.... not to take away from Ross's punches, but George does not take a punch well. his striking style is essentially boxing, and he uses a deep stance, limiting his reach advantage.i think he would be more sucessful with a striking style based around kicking... his jiujitsu's great, and he's not afraid to fight off his back. kicks would allow him to use his range (and help him protect his chin), and if he gets taken down, then he can work off his back, where he's been very successful.

And he probably is still in danger of losing his job.In his last couple of fights, he has looked like a fish out of water of sorts.Wonder if he has personal issues in his life in which are yielding these results?

It was a good stoppage, Sotiropoulos was done. And he was losing badly anyway at that point.Crazy to think how close he was to a title shot, with the Siver fight supposedly only a formality, and now he's 0 and 3...If he wasn't Australian, he would be in serious danger of getting fired.

So happy Ross put a beating on George he was acting the cunt all season while Ross kept his cool. Maybe George should speak to Ross for some striking training as the striking coaches he spoke so highly of during the filming of tuf didn't seem to help that Aussie prick much.
