GSP 4-1 favorite over Nick Diaz

by Mike Chiappetta | source: mmafighting.com

Georges St. Pierre has not been an underdog in any of his fights since his second bout with Matt Hughes, a match which took place in 2006 and ended in a TKO win for him. That's a stretch of 11 straight fights, and the trend shows no signs of letting up as long as he remains in his division.

In the early lines released on his UFC 158 fight with Nick Diaz, St-Pierre has been installed as a more than 4-to-1 favorite, with a -430 line on the gambling website 5Dimes.eu.

Diaz is a +310 underdog.

4:1 is about right. I just hope Nick can make it interesting. I predict a lot of angry desperation arm-flapping and talking though, followed by him saying he's going to boxing because it's not fair for Georges to be allowed to out-wrestle him.

They start them usually close to what is realistic but a bit exaggerated so that people will place a lot of bets (thats how they make their money). The line moves based on how people bet-- like if a million people put money on diaz, he would become the favorite. It just reflects what the market thinks, not unlike stock prices.

That's a good line. Anywhere between 3-1 to 5-1 is realistic. There will be a good amount of Diaz fight leading up so inflated line will prob settle between 2-1 3-1. Diaz knows how to hype a fight..
