Overeem officially applies for license with NSAC

UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem today applied for a license to fight in Nevada in 2013, an official told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

But before he is given the green light, he will need to appear before the state's athletic commission, which will weigh several options before making a decision.

"He will be required per his previous denial to appear before the full commission at the next scheduled meeting, which is Jan. 8," Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer told MMAjunkie.com.

"It will be his burden to prove to commissioners that he should be granted a license to compete in Nevada," Kizer said. "After hearing all relevant evidence, the commission will have the option to deny the license, grant the license unconditionally, or grant the license with conditions."

I think the important thing to note is that JDS has been striking for eight years, whereas Reem has been striking for seventeen years.

I have no love of the commision, but it would be a mess if they were eliminated.  Pretty soon a fighter would be required to be on PED's just to get into a good training camp.  Being jacked up on roids would be the starting point before you knew your first submission.

He doesn't need to make an argument. All you need to do is look at Overoid's record. He's never faced anyone like JDS, and every great MMA striker he has faced has knocked him out (unless he dry-humped them and submitted them).

VADA testing should solve this.

Didn't Overeem miss a test in a Nevada a while ago under the excuse that he had to fly back to Holland to see his mom, who was sick or something...? And, then, didn't he take some tests in Europe that were "mishandled"...?The guy was licensed with conditions before and was busted. Anyways, both Cain and JDS defeat him soundly.

What does his "pro boxing" skill have to do with anything? His MMA boxing is high level, and that's all that matters. I've seen plenty of kick-boxers/boxers get struck straight up the middle with shots they normally block with big gloves.
