White: Goldberg 'taking time off,' Anik steps up at UFC 155

Regular pay-per-view play-by-play voice Mike Goldberg will sit out the UFC's year-end event, and Jon Anik will join analyst Joe Rogan in the broadcast booth.

UFC President Dana White on Friday confirmed the change to MMAjunkie.com but could not offer specifics into the situation or when Goldberg is expected to return to his post.

"He's taking time off and is not working this weekend," White said. "I don't know when he will be back.

It was very noticeable that he wasn't there tonight.  Anik works much better with Florian than he does with Rogan.

Whatever the health issue is, it's not just a bug or an illness. During the 155 post-fight scrum a reporter asked Dana about it and he said something along the lines of "I don't know when he'll back. Next question." His tone was irritable, and he didn't want to talk about it, which pretty much tells us that Goldie did something wrong on his end. Couple that with Goldie's tweet about "health," Rogan's mention of a close friend getting addicted to pills, and his physical appearance/frequent bathroom breaks, it's nearly a guarantee that it's a drug problem.

Goldberg is not a very good commentator IMO. I enjoyed not hearing his comments tonight. Sorry Goldie.

Goldie has done practically every UFC. If he wants a break he deserves it. It's New Years weekend and maybe he wanted to spend some holiday time for himself and his family. No need for speculation.   As an aside, I hope he comes back soon. That anic guy was trying way too hard.
