Jones: Rampage is a baby wuss

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, fights Glover Teixeira on UFC on FOX 6 Saturday, recently called for a ban on the "oblique kick" that Jon Jones and others regularly employ in the Octagon.

Jones appeared on the The Opie & Anthony Show, and did not take the remarks kindly.

"Yeah, the oblique kick, Joe Rogan named it," said Jones. "I don't know, (Quinton Jackson) is a wuss, he's a wuss. He has this tough guy persona but he complains about anything that doesn't go in his favor. ‘Oh, my contract. Oh, he wants to take me down, that's not real fighting.' He is such a baby, he's a baby."

Rampage is a baby these days...but, that kick is cheap! Even in Muay Thai it's done to the thigh...NOT directly to the knee!!...

You guys should read Jack Slack's post on the oblique kick if you think there's no purpose other than injury. It's how Condit set up his knockout of Dan Hardy. Great read.

1) he's a promoter not a priest. He sells fights for a living  2) Chael tried to save 151, and was the only one to accept the fight. That's what Dana means. He getting reward for that and well...for being Chael....

"At just 25 years old, Jones has a more impressive resume than any fighter you just listed and has hurt people more than Chuck, Wand, Nog, BJ, etc.. I don't recall those guys repeatedly smashing bones in their opponents face."You've got to be fucking kidding me.Jon Jones has hurt people more than Wanderlei Silva?Much respect if trolling.

Your post would make sense if Jones was lay n praying all of his opponents just to 'get the win.'  At just 25 years old, Jones has a more impressive resume than any fighter you just listed and has hurt people more than Chuck, Wand, Nog, BJ, etc..  I don't recall those guys repeatedly smashing bones in their opponents face.

I agree with Rampage on this one, it is like elbows in a lot of ways. Can lead to stoppage and a win but not exactly the conclusion that either the fighters or fans want to see. I am not sure that anyone has ever been seriously injured from this type of strike in the UFC but that does seems like the intention. There is a big difference in my opinion between this type of strike and submissions and strikes to the head/liver. The difference being submissions can end the fight, same with head/liver strikes, but ending up with a bum knee is just shitty. I would think there is less honor in winning that way.
