Model proving kung-fu can work in the ONE FC cage

At One FC Destiny Of Warriors in June of 2012, Malaysian lightweight Peter Davis threw a left high kick which missed but simply used the momentum to spin around again and throw a spinning back kick which connected clean with the jaw of Kim Hock. (video)

"Fighting for me is very creative," said the actor/model/fighter. "I like to try different things and see what works. My style of fighting is Wuji Chuan but what that really means is 'like water,' so you can do whatever you want as long as you can make it flow."

"I am very confident in my striking, so far my style has been effective and I still have a lot more tricks which I haven't had a chance to use yet. Guys like Shinya Aoki and Kotetsu Boku have so much experience, I'd need to work a lot on my wrestling and submissions before I fought either of them but if ONE FC wanted to make the fight then why not?"

Davis admits that he does cross train in Muay Thai, boxing and BJJ but believes that it is his expertise in Wuji Chuan which gives him the edge over opponents who come from more traditional backgrounds.

"Sometimes a trainer look at my stance or the way I do certain things and tell me that I am doing it wrong and try to correct me because my style of fighting is unusual but, so far, it works."

A green version of Davis's unorthodox style can be seen vs. Paul Broughton at UKMMAC 15 in May 2006.

Peter Davis fights Leo Krishna at ONE FC: RETURN OF WARRIORS on 2 Feb 2013.

Yeah... It's more of a thing a fighter does because they can get away with it. Not because it's necessarily smart strategy.RJJ and Anderson Silva can close their eyes and put their hands behind their backs, and you're still not going to land anything to their head. They just dodge when they hear your abs flex. How many fight-blooper videos have we seen, where the idiot keeps his hands down to showboat, then gets blasted.

Great, yet another thread where the same style of martial arts that brought us "monkey steals the peach" begs for legitimacy.

Good flow is something that is beautiful to watch in all areas of MMA. Most champions possess that quality IMO.

Same kick used in tkd. Nothing exclusively kung fu about it.
