Soares: We make suggestions, but UFC has final decision on Silva's oppt.

by George Garcia & Dann Stupp | source: mmajunkie.com

"Sometimes people ask me, and I just say what's on my mind at the time," Soares told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "I'm just mentioning things. It's not like I'm stepping in there and demanding things from (UFC President) Dana (White). It's not that sort of relationship I have with them."

"We suggest some things that we think, and they tell us what they think, and we try to find something that works for everyone," he said. "But at the end of the day – and it's not just with Anderson, but all of our athletes – we've always fought. They get in there and perform.

"Anderson has never chosen his opponent, never picked his opponent. Whoever the UFC put in front of him, he always accepted."

"It always happens. ‘I absolutely will not fight Chael Sonnen. He doesn’t deserve the title. I’m not doing this and I’m not doing that.’ This is what we do.”     Yes -- it always happens that he says that. And it also always happens that he signs the fight agreement and takes the fight. Which is why Dana himself said that Anderson has never ducked a fight or refused an opponent. Talk is talk, negotiations are negotiations, but Anderson in the end fights the opponent the UFC wants him to fight.

"with Anderson saying he doesn't want to fight until next year and then taking a fight against an almost retired, sub top 10 fighter with little wrestling ability to save an event that doesn't need saving"     Um, you do realize that you are probably almost completely alone in thinking that right?   The main AND the co-main cancelled on virtually the same day. Belfort vs Belcher was pulled so Belfort could face Jones. Gabe Gonzaga vs Geronimo was also cancelled.   You are either being intentionally obtuse about this, or must have forgotten. The rest of the card would be FX worthy at BEST. Fitch Silva was likely the best fight left on the card....

Anderson not wanting to fight guys that he already beat = ducking (Hendo/Chael right after he beat him)Anderson fighting guys he already beat because that's who the UFC insists on him fighting = ducking new challengersAnderson not wanting to fight guys that never fought in the UFC in his division = ducking (Belfort/soon to be Rashad)Anderson going up in weight to fight bigger guys on relatively short notice = ducking his whole divisionAnderson not going up in weight to fight the 205 champ since he doesn't want to be in that division fulltime = ducking (Machida/Jones)Anderson trying to get a superfight with GSP that's been discussed for YEARS = ducking/bullyingMan this guy sure is a coward

"You agreed with what i wrote about GSP and his choices, so you must not agree with the other part. Please explain if you would." I think that Weidman has earned the shot more than Rockhold or Le, just like Hendricks has earned the shot more than Diaz.  You can argue the case hasn't been as clearly made or that one or more guys don't objectively deserve it but I think comparatively, what I'm saying is true about them. GSP has made his decision and it's straight up bullshit.  Anderson has danced around a bit for a while now, or perhaps more accurately his manager has danced around and given his "opinion" everywhere he can, but he hasn't made a decision yet so there's really no judgment to be rendered. If it continues down the same path and there's more of the sort of thing we've seen already, with Anderson saying he doesn't want to fight until next year and then taking a fight against an almost retired, sub top 10 fighter with little wrestling ability to save an event that doesn't need saving and it continues to the point that he doesn't end up fighting Weidman for the belt and instead fights someone else for it then I'll have something to say. Time will tell. One things for sure, Ed isn't the most stand up guy.  I didn't hear him "giving his opinion" when it was Okami next up for execution and I don't think anybody really cared about that foregone conclusion of a fight.  And it shows, the fight didn't sell for shit.  It had about the same buyrate as Anderson vs Cote.  But his very next fight they want him against Sonnen, a fight everyone knows will sell very well, and there Ed is, "giving his opinion" about how Sonnen doesn't deserve it.  So 300k buys is fine but 900k buys requires "opinion" giving. I wish Anderson would dump this guy.  He comes off as douchey and he talks like a 16 year old surfer.   Also I'm not so sure it's an "easier fight".  Hendricks got out wrestled to a decision by Rick Story.  If Rick can do it, so can GSP. Diaz can be decisioned of course, but all his tools are offensive and he has really great cardio.  I think fighting Nick is perhaps more dangerous.  Not necessarily harder in every sense or in all possible contingencies but maybe more dangerous, depending on how you look at it.   Anyway, that's all I really have to say.  There's nothing more to discuss unless something actually finally happens with Anderson and co.

LMAO@ Glovegate here. You're funny.   I have NEVER, nor would I, try and calim Dana is lying in the above quotes. I believe 100% that Ed/Anderson talk some wierd shit and say tehy don't want to fight fighterXXX every time they negotiate with the UFC or discuss an upcoming fight. Never disputed that, never will. It is obvious that Anderson trolls and Ed trolls and they both have some interesting negotiating tactics.   If you dispute something in the post I made where you quoted "this is reality" I would love to hear about it. You agreed with what i wrote about GSP and his choices, so you must not agree with the other part. Please explain if you would.   Hope everything is going well at whatever you are doing today too.   Cheers, bro.

Whoever the UFC put it front of him, he always accepted."   These statements don't seem to agree with one another.  How can you never pick your opponent if negotiations for fights involve meeting in the middle?  Maybe he meant they negotiate other factors and not who Anderson is fighting.  But surely they talk about financial factors and they seem to be all about projected ppv buys.   I don't think Anderson has ducked or picked but Ed has admitted something strange here.   "This is reality, accept it."   I find it a little bit strange that one man's word is reality to you and another man's word is trolling or fiction or whatever.  And I don't mean this in response to GSP wanting Diaz and not Hendricks.  What GSP did there was BS.  I mean it in regards to all your posts.   Dana says something that fits your narrative, you spam the quote in 10-20 threads, you capitalize every 4th word or so, you feverishly respond to anyone who dares have an opinion of Anderson that isn't positive, etc etc.  Dana says:   “This is typical Anderson Silva, Ed Soares craziness,” said White. “Every f---ing time there’s a fight, he wants to fight ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson. Then he wants to fight this guy and that guy. It’s always the same deal. "It always happens. ‘I absolutely will not fight Chael Sonnen. He doesn’t deserve the title. I’m not doing this and I’m not doing that.’ This is what we do.”   and you first minimize it by reminding everyone that Dana lies then you ignore it.  It's highly unfair of you and betrays considerable bias.  For an adult male with whom you have no relationship, no less.     Anyway, I didn't want to start a 10 page argument with you, just providing you with something you can think on for your own maturation as a human being.   I hope all's well at the dealership. Cheers, bro.

GSP actually avoided fighting the true #1 contender in favor of someone coming off a loss, and a 1 year suspension. Someone who's biggest win in the last 4 years was the LW BJ Penn at the tail end of his career. It is an easier fight for GSP. Anderson has NOT actually avoided Weidman in favor of a lesser MW, they just asked Ed and he gave his opinions. Either Weidman or Rashad will get the next shot at the title, and it is up to Dana not Ed.   This is reality, accept it.

Excuses are not the same as accusing a camp of some type of extortion/bribary type of thing...where they pretend Anderson is injured to get what they want. You think Dana FUCKING White and Lorenzo would tolerate that type of bullshit?   Source or GTFO with that bullshit.

I don't believe that. If Georges picked Nick to be his next opponent, obviously Anderson would have the pull to pick his opponent.
