Aldo: I believe I won every round

“I believe I won every round,” said Aldo to Fuel TV after the event’s conclusion, pointing to a few takedowns as Edgar’s only real moments of glory in his go at the gold. “He’s a former champion so of course he was a very tough opponent. But I’ve also had very tough fights in the past. So I can’t rate him as my toughest opponent – a lot of fighters in the past were also very tough.”

Aldo improved his record to 22-1 with the victory, further establishing himself as one of MMA’s pound-for-pound best. With a few interesting options on the table including Chan Sung Jung, Ricardo Lamas, and even Anthony Pettis, “Scarface” isn’t certain who his next challenger will be. He also doesn’t care.

“It’s not up to me,” explained Aldo. “Joe Silva is a great matchmaker. He’ll find the right opponent for me and whoever comes my way I’ll have a great respect for and a great fight.”

IMO a good solution to things like this is to be much more liberal with the scoring of 10-10 rounds.

Is edgars gameplan for every fight to just hope for the judges to see the fight his way? He either needs more rounds to work or to push the pace or something. Even if he did win 3 rnds against aldo he never actually WON anything. He should never take a title with a performance like that, you have to beat the champ IMO

If the decision had gone to Edgar, it would've been considered one of the biggest robberies in the history of the sport. Aldo wins, and aside from a handful of threads on the UG, etc., most fans feel that the victory was justified, even if they don't agree 100% with the judges scorecards.Edgar winning another title that way would've put an asterisk on his legacy, right after the accolades about heart, superior cardio, and his amazing ability to recover from nearly being knocked out in multiple fights. He can be a champion again, but I like his chances better at 155 than terms of the immediate future.

aldo won rd 1,2,3,5. frankie didnt get robbed he needs to take more chances and stop trying to win by decision if they are never goin his way. imo u have to TAKE the belt from the champ. even if it was a close fight n edgar won 3 out of 5 rds i would still say give it to aldo esp if he gave frankie more damage. aldo throws hard shots and he tried to land a couple of those knees to frankies face to he tried to finish. all i saw from frankie was tryin to win rds

Aldo for sure won rounds 1 and 2. 3 could have gone either way and Frankie won rounds 4 and 5 for sure

303 - Aldo won 1,2, and 3 very convincingly, and I think he won rd 5 as well. Edgar won round 4. There really is no doubt on 1,2, and 3 so even if Edgar did win 5 he still lost the fight. This but I think Rd 5 was clear for Aldo. Even the 4th I don't think Frankie won by much as he did NO damage Phone Post Well, lets be thankful that your biased ass will and should never come within 1000 feet of a judges score table.

Yet another fight that demonstrates a need for changing in the scoring criteria.I don't know if Aldo was tired in the last two rounds, or if he was fighting safely because he thought he the fight won. If it were the latter, I would have liked to have seen his best effort. I thought Edgar took rounds 4 & 5, but I think Aldo could have been given 10-8 in the 1st.I honestly saw the 3rd as a "even" round.IMO, the rounds should score more as the fight goes on, both because it will prevent fighters with a lead from fighting safely and because, without the time limit, the fighter in better shape at the end would be more likely to eventually win. Also, the 10-9 system for 3 or 5 round fights is just foolish.
