Josh Barnett declines UFC contract offer

Josh Barnett may not be coming back to the UFC after all.

"We agreed on guaranteed compensation," said Barnett's manager Leland LaBarre. "In fact, we never even countered. We accepted their original offer.

"However, there are some outlying issues -- one in particular -- that as of this point we were unable to agree on."

Labarre said he didn't feel it was appropriate at this time to discuss which issue both sides couldn't come to terms on.

One obvious possibility is Barnett being able to work as a professional wrestler. What do you think the problem was?

****WOULD LIKE TO EXPAND ON THIS EXCELLENT POST...Josh Barnett is not only STILL one of the best heavyweights in the game - he's also one of THE best heavyweight mma fighters ever.Almost impossible to knock him out or submit him (because he's so tough) - and his wrestling and submission game is one of the best ever to come along.NOW ADD TO THIS...the fact that he's willing to stand up to Zuffa and White on proprietary issues (ie.- such as the use of his likeness - which I'm betting is one of the biggest sticking issues)...and you have a guy who takes NO SHIT FROM ANYONE on or off the mat (Fedor is another one).I just can't wait for the Dana White era to come to an end - and for Zuffa in general to be cut down to size.They're just screwing too many people - not the least of which is the fans of mma. AND THE FANS OF MMA OVERWHELMINGLY WANT TO SEE BARNETT FIGHT A WHOLE BUNCH OF GUYS IN THE UFC HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION.

he wants to do pro-wrestling. unfortunately his promo's suck... if he cut a promo on tna like he did in SF he'd be laughed out of the building... if he was any good in pro-wrestling he wouldnt be doing it in japan. I doubt TNA wants him and the price tag he comes with i doubt bellator wants him either. WSOF needs fighters.
