The New York Times recently did an uneven piece on the looming battle between ZUFFA and Viacom, pitting the UFC against Bellator.
Included in the article was the price that Viacom paid to acquire a controlling interest in Bellator.
"In fall 2011, the company paid around $50 million for a majority stake in Bellator Fighting Championships, according to people with knowledge of the deal who did not want to be identified discussing internal company business."
While the sum is astronomical by MMA standards, the sum represents approximately 1% of the five billions dollars in cash that Viacom is sitting on.
